Vesak – Buddhism’s most Sacred Festival

Vesak is the month that sees Buddhists the world over celebrate the birth of Prince Siddhartha, the young prince attaining enlightenment as the Lord Buddha and his passing away at the age of 80 years. Buddhism’s most sacred festival, Vesak also sees creative pandols (Vesak Thorana) depicting stories of the life of Buddha, free serving of food for the general public as well as streets and houses adorned with dazzling lanterns.
